Archive for October, 2007

I’ve been calling the Pulau Ubin Hotline monthly ever since the opening of the new amenities at Chek Jawa Wetlands in July this year to book for the guided tour. The guided tour seems to be fully booked every time I called them. The last time I called them was in early October, and they said it was fully booked till the end of the year.

Received the SAFRA newsletter earlier this month and realized that they too have a Check Jawa Expedition in November. Already signed up my whole family for the package which cost $32 each. The event is already fully booked right now.

Realized that the date of this expedition is not one of the guided walk dates published in NPB website, so I guess it’s not exactly the same as the published ones. One thing I’m quite confused is that, according to the tide table,  the low tide at Pulau Ubin is in the evening around that period. So not sure whether we’ll see anything interesting then.

Anyway, still looking forward to the expedition.

Only managed to go for three runs in the past two weeks due to tight schedules and bad weather. Signed up for the training run yesterday at Nike Runaholic but didn’t go due to the downpour at around 6am in the morning. Sigh …

Got a little bored of my usual running route, so decided to explore a new route yesterday.

The usual route is around 2.3 km, highlighted in yellow in the Google Map below. I usually start at the link bridge at the end of Clementi Ave 4 and run towards the west direction, make an U-turn at the end and run all the way back towards Clementi Road, and U-turn again back to the starting point. One round trip is around 4.6 km.

Usual Running Route

The new route I run yesterday is around 2 km, round-trip is around 4 km, highlighted in white in the Google Map below. I’ve to walk across an abandoned railway bridge to get to this new route. There are several exercise stations along the route, and the trees along the running track are very different and look rather scenic as well. The only problem with this route is that I had to cross two roads, and one is without traffic light. Don’t think I’ll run this route again as it’s not safe to dash across roads.
